DOG FIRST AID (AMERICAN RED CROSS)
Instructors: Stephanie Love and Blake Cazier

Dog First Aid will teach pet owners how to be prepared for emergencies that involve a dog. First aid for dogs is the immediate and temporary care given to an injured animal until it can be taken to a professional veterinarian for medical care and attention. Topics covered will include: recognizing an emergency, breathing and cardiac emergencies (choking and CPR for dogs), injuries and sudden illness. Participants will learn what should go in a pet first aid kit as well as pet supplies to include in an emergency kit in case of a situation that requires the evacuation of a pet. Class size limited. Participants will also receive a Dog First Aid book and DVD. Bring $30 supply fee to class.

Water Safety Brown Bag Lunches in Iron Range

Is your Aquatic Facility Safe and Prepared for an emergency?  The Northland Chapter of the American Red Cross will be hosting a 1 hour “brown bag” lunch seminar on this topic.  If you have a beach, pool, camp or water-park, we have information that you need to know.  There is no cost for this seminar but pre-registration is necessary.  There are three sessions scheduled:  May 1st in Virginia, May 8th in Duluth and May 13th in Grand Rapids.

Northland Chapter American Red Cross Busiest Fire Season Yet to Date

The Northland Chapter of the American Red Cross and its terrific volunteers have been on their feet, not nationally but right in our own community. In a one week time span, the Red Cross assisted with 7 house fires in the Duluth area. It is people like your own loved ones or even a neighbor who answers the call to volunteerism, have you answered your call yet?
