Become a Red Cross Volunteer

Red feels good

For over 125 years, the Red Cross has served the needs of the American people through disaster relief assistance, community disaster education, health and safety training, blood collection, emergency communication, and other vital services. American Red Cross volunteers are truly the strength of the organization and make up 97% of the American Red Cross workforce with over one million individuals volunteering with the American Red Cross each year.

Red Cross volunteers are people like you—living and working in our local community—and trained by the Red Cross to provide services, leadership, and support to help community members prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. Red Cross volunteers have diverse skills, backgrounds, and experiences, but share a commitment to building a safer, more resilient community.

Steps to Begin Volunteering with the Red Cross:

1) View our Volunteer Opportunities

2) Complete the Volunteer Application form

3) Sign and submit the Volunteer Signature Page

4) Complete the Online Orientation
